Across the East African–Eurasian flyway, raptors and people meet at a vast crossroads. Migration routes converge across the flyway, and watch-site communities come together to count them. Purpose of the network

One flyway. Many routes. One connected effort.

The East African–Eurasian flyway is not defined by a single narrow passage. Raptors travel across a broad longitudinal range, following routes that shift with the seasons between the Black Sea and Caspian Sea to the Red Sea. No watch site can reveal the full picture of raptor migration movements and population developments alone.

The Raptor Crossroads Network brings monitoring sites together to coordinate counts, strengthen data quality, and share results openly. By connecting locally adapted protocols across the flyway, we can better understand migration patterns and long-term population trends for raptors from some of the world’s least-studied, but largest regions.
